General Assembly of Emberá Querá: Unanimous Re-election of the Noko for the 2025–2030 Term
On May 1st, 2025, the Emberá Querá community held its General Assembly—an essential event for practicing internal democracy and exercising the right to self-determination as an Indigenous people. During this important gathering, the community selected its traditional authorities for the 2025–2030 period. Remaining under the leadership of Elvin Flaco ( I Noko), Atilano Flaco S (II Noko), Climaco Dogirama (Fiscal), Frigelio Achito (Vocal), Militza Flaco ( Tesorera) y Yohana Dogirama ( Secretaria).
In a show of unity and collective agreement, community members unanimously re-elected the current Noko (traditional leader), recognizing his continued commitment, leadership, and dedication to the well-being of the community and the preservation of Emberá culture.
The General Assembly not only reaffirms our ancestral traditions and values, but also strengthens our community organization and shared vision for a sustainable future rooted in our identity.
